For many reasons you may need a Translator or Interpreter when in France. Even if you have good spoken French, formal written letters and documents can be beyond the understanding of many people due to the nature of the niche vocabulary used – this does include many French people too!
There may also be scenarios where you feel out of your depth tackling a new situation particularly if vocabulary is unfamiliar or you may need someone to accompany you to speak on your behalf. It is more and more common for a Notaire to ask for an Interpreter to be present in-person or virtually for the reading and signing of important documents e.g. Actes de ventes, Wills or Tontine agreements. Most Notaires will accept a virtual certified Interpreter so don’t hesitate to contact us in theis scenario.
